Interest Rates in Mexico

I was talking with a friend in Mexico the other day and he mentioned that he was working on paying of some credit card debt. I asked what the interest rate was. 43%! That is pretty high even for a credit card. Interest rates in Mexico are much higher than what we are use to in the US.
